Remembering Pittsburghers who never came home

by The 100 Companies

Edward Kampel and Joseph Kozar are two Pittsburghers you’ll never meet. They’re not unsociable; they just can’t be found.

Both went missing during World War II while in my dad’s U.S. Army Air Forces unit, the 384th Bomb Group. This week, 40 Americans (myself included) visited England, my dad’s air base and the place Kampel and Kozar are memorialized: the massive Cambridge American Cemetery. There are 3,811 Americans buried there – another 5,127 remain missing.

That’s our story. What’s yours? Contact Dan Stefano or me (link below) and we’ll help share it here or on our podcast.
