Pennsylvania’s history is filled with agricultural prowess (and a few records). The Pittsburgh region is better known for its historical industrial might.
Yet agriculture is a factor locally, especially at harvest time, when we feel the first cold nip of fall weather. When it comes to making rye whiskey, Pittsburghers hold their own. And our pumpkin consumption is still hefty, thanks to the many local farms stocked with plump orange gourds that make great fall decorations (or sometimes pies).
If you want record-breaking pumpkins, though, we’re not in the running.
