Alone among the months of the year, August has no landmark national holiday to celebrate.
Lucky for us Pittsburghers, we have another August to celebrate, and we don’t need a day or month to do so: August Wilson. He’s our foremost playwright, and a national treasure, so how about turning your attention to him and his works before September beckons?
Some ideas to celebrate “our” August:
• Visit the August Wilson African American Cultural Center downtown.
• Check out his boyhood home, recently opened to the public.
