The 2020 U.S. Census is out for Pittsburgh and it’s easy to misinterpret if you only look at headlines.
I recommend this excellent PublicSource analysis for the complete picture of Pittsburgh today. For example:
• While the city has 13.4% fewer Black residents – they still live in the region, just not the city.
• The area has fewer children under 18 than in 2010, owing in part to the region’s growing college student population.
• And the Asian and multiracial population, while still small, is up 47% in Pittsburgh.
