After the much-ballyhooed event to march into notorious Area 51 went viral this summer, truth seekers are settling on two alien-themed festivals in Nevada’s desert. Maybe we’ll never know what the government is or isn’t hiding, but Pittsburghers should still look to the sky.

Indeed, the region was home to the famed Kecksburg UFO incident. There are more scientific ways to study the cosmos around town, though.

Pitt has a long history in astronomy, providing pioneering research and degrees. The university also operates historic Allegheny Observatory in Riverview Park, where visitors can take tours and observe celestial objects.
