Pittsburgh’s best places to pick your own fruit

by The 100 Companies

Squeeze out the last drops of summer by picking some juicy fruits at these top farms:

Trax Farms (20 miles south of Pittsburgh in Finleyville) : Known for their endless blueberry bushes, the fruit is plump and sweet. Containers are provided, but call ahead: Picking is sometimes closed to allow the bushes to “rest” and ripen.

Simmons Farm (McMurray): Strawberries and peaches galore – pick a peck (6-8 peaches for $8) up to a bushel (90-120 peaches). Call to verify picking availability (and don’t miss the baked goods).

Sarver Hill Farm (Greensburg): U-pick strawberries is by appointment only on this certified organic farm.
