The Farmer’s Daughter ‘does it with passion or not at all’

by The 100 Companies

Florist Lauren Work Phillips, founder of The Farmer’s Daughter (and actual daughter of a farmer), learned floral design in Brooklyn before returning to her roots in Pittsburgh. In 2013, she started the business out her of small apartment, which has since grown into a storefront on East Ohio Street.

Her philosophy is to allow flowers to be as they are, and she sources her blooms locally and from her own garden. Lauren is inspired by “the way foliage, herbs, branches and fruit complement their identity” and brings her passion to weddings and events as well as the simple, personal bouquet.
