Pittsburgh’s jam-packed Memorial Day weekend

by Sally Schroder

From festivals to ceremonies, there’s something for everyone this Memorial Day:

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum, the largest memorial honoring military veterans and service members in the country, hosts a free celebration with face painting, arts and crafts, and a bouncy house.

A more somber event, The Submarine Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony is marked by a 21-gun salute, casting of flower petals and bell toll.

March to the beat of the Lawrenceville parade, the largest in the area. Bands and veterans organizations will proceed from Butler Street to the Allegheny Cemetery’s Soldier’s Memorial, where a special service will take place.
