If you’re still searching for a reason to tune in to the Winter Olympics, look no further than short track speed skater John-Henry Krueger, who won the 500m, 1000m, 1500m and overall title at the Olympic trials. Krueger grew up in Pittsburgh before moving to Salt Lake City to train with the national team at age 16.
Perseverance defines his story as much as talent. He expected to make the team in 2014 before falling ill with the swine flu during that year’s trials.
The 1000m finals are Feb. 17 and the qualification heats for the 500m begin Feb. 20.
