Embrace Pittsburgh’s dark side with the International Dark-Sky Association

by
International Dark-Sky Association

Imagine seeing the Milky Way from your backyard. Years ago, you could. With more man-made outdoor lighting, we’re creating a big problem: light pollution.

The International Dark-Sky Association started in Arizona, making improvements by being more responsible with lights. Of all the cities in the world, IDA recognizes 22 communities committed to preserving the night sky. To bring these efforts to Pittsburgh, IDA is working toward an initiative to replace street lights with efficient bulbs and shields that halt light projection to the sky.

IDA is holding a one-day free conference on June 1. Learn more here.
