Over the July 4 holiday, nearly 100 veterans rode their bikes from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. for the Veterans Leadership Program’s 335 Miles for Veterans event. The $44,000 these veterans raised underscores the region’s appreciation for veterans. VLP is a nonprofit dedicated to providing housing, employment and support services to all U.S. veterans.
Allegheny County has the highest concentration of veterans in Pennsylvania. Many local vets struggle in the transition to civilian life. Luckily, no western Pennsylvania veteran has to face this struggle alone, as VLP is committed to helping each veteran who participates in its programs.
