Cold weather doesn’t mean you have to exercise indoors

Bundle up and get moving. We might not hit 70 degrees again for a while, but it doesn’t mean you have to be a hermit. Actually, exercising in the cold has some benefits.

Outdoor workouts in colder months boost your immune system and expose you to mood-improving sunlight, and because your body regulates its temperature better in cold weather, you can go longer.

Even shivering itself burns calories, but you should take precautions. Warm, layered clothing is important the colder it gets. Too many layers can make you sweat, though, and extremities must be protected for risk of frostbite.
