Wild, wonderful weekend trips: West Virginia is for nature lovers

Want a quick weekend getaway? Look south to West Virginia:

As of 2020, New River Gorge is the state’s newest national park, popular for whitewater rafting and climbing.

Blackwater Falls, known as the “Great Falls” of Blackwater River, is a stunning 62-foot waterfall surrounded by 20 miles of hiking.

Coopers Rock is a series of sandstone cliffs above the Cheat River Gorge. It is popular for climbing, bouldering, hiking and biking, featuring 50 miles of trails.

Seneca Rocks is popular for rock climbers who dare to climb nearly 900 feet above the North Fork River.
