Pittsburgh steakhouse scene continues to evolve

by
A steak

For more than 20 years, Pittsburghers seeking a high-end steakhouse faced a simple choice: Morton’s or Ruth’s Chris.

While those two continue to rank among the top choices for carnivores (along with independently owned The Carlton), the last decade has seen a massive influx of new arrivals, including The Capital Grille, Eddie Merlot’s, Hyde Park, Andrew’s, Cioppino and – most recently – Red.

The increasing number of choices coincides with the renaissance of downtown — and our fine dining isn’t limited to steakhouses. But if Pittsburghers can afford this many options for steaks, then life must be pretty good, so dig in!
