Pittsburgh’s place in the resurgence of vinyl

by
vinyl records

Inconspicuously located on the second floor of a Murray Avenue storefront, you’ll find the place where half a million vinyl records live – Jerry’s Records. Named one of the best record stores in the country by Rolling Stone, Jerry’s is one of Pittsburgh’s hidden gems.

However, once the defining symbol of the music industry, vinyl was made obsolete by new technology – or was it?

In 2017, vinyl sales hit a 25-year high, and sales have grown by double digits each year since. Whether it’s the vintage feel, quality or something else, Pittsburgh is a haven for new-age vinyl collectors.
