High School Football on the Big Stage

High school football is in our DNA in western Pennsylvania. Every high school team in the Pittsburgh region begins the season dreaming of playing in a WPIAL championship game at Heinz Field.

Usually, these four football championships happen over Thanksgiving weekend, at the home of the Steelers. But recent changes to the playoff structure meant the games were held this past weekend. Every year, players from these games go on to be collegiate and NFL stars. Who will be the stars from this year’s games? Only time will tell. Check out the WPIAL Hall of Fame to see past winners.
