From a new tower to be built outside of PNC Park to a new development that will overhaul a portion of Oakland, new apartments continue to sprout in Pittsburgh. Along with them comes an ongoing question – is it better to buy or rent?
As wonderful as the amenities can be in some complexes – dog-washing rooms, anyone? – they bring along rising rents. According to a report from Realtor.com, the median rent in the Pittsburgh market is $1,530, while the average monthly cost for buying is $945.
That makes Pittsburgh the third-best market that favors buying a home over renting an apartment.
