Through his graffiti-style portraits, Baron Batch, a former Steelers player-turned-painter, has made the city’s streets a little brighter over the years with his art.
Pittsburghers pass his creations daily, but many are unaware of the inspiration behind each mural. Batch describes his work as POP-X – a mix of pop and expressionism styles, characteristic of the ‘70s and ‘80s.
In addition to using vibrant pops of color, Batch ensures onlookers come away with little pieces of encouragement from his art, often signing his murals with inspiring quotes like, “Fall in love with being alive” and “You are made for amazing things.”
