Refugee relief: A response from Pittsburgh students

by The 100 Companies

When you hear “refugee crisis,” you may automatically picture some foreign nation in distress, but for thousands of Pittsburgh students, the subject hits way too close to home.

After School Club is a collaborative effort between ARYSE, JFCS and Duquesne University that seeks to assist refugee youth in the Pittsburgh area.

The program aims to help refugees overcome educational and cultural barriers through peer mentorship so that they may become engaged and celebrated members of the community. Currently, After School Club supports over 100 refugee students with over 50 volunteer mentors, consisting primarily of undergraduates from Pitt, CMU and Duquesne.
