James Gourlay didn’t have to end up in Pittsburgh. He’s worked with some of the most famous symphony orchestras in the world, including the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and BBC Symphony Orchestra, and has performed in multiple movie scores, including a pair of “Superman” flicks and “Batman.” But here he is.
Since becoming artistic and general director of River City Brass in 2010, Gourlay has been named one of the Top 30 Professionals of the Year by Musical America and has taken River City Brass from 21 yearly concerts up to 35.
