Is it still worth buying an EV in 2026?

by The 100 Companies

The $7,500 federal tax credit is gone. The Trump administration has paused a $3 billion plan to improve our charging infrastructure. Is 2026 the worst year ever to buy an EV?

No. In fact, it’s the best year to go electric for three reasons:

1. Many automakers are heavily discounting their EVs to make up for the lost tax credit (the Audi E-Tron GT is $25,000 off).

2. Dealers are generally keen to get rid of their EVs, leaving room to negotiate.

3. EVs are better than ever, with the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5 getting major range and performance upgrades.
