Celebrate Juneteenth in Pittsburgh with a homecoming

by The 100 Companies

The movement to turn Juneteenth – which commemorates the end of slavery each year on June 19 – into an official holiday reached a crescendo in recent years, with the special day receiving that designation at the federal, state and local levels. The only thing left to do is party.

Pittsburgh’s festivities last an entire weekend this year, as the Western Pennsylvania Juneteenth Homecoming Celebration runs Friday through Sunday in Point State Park and Market Square.

Funk-soul band War headlines a long list of music acts at the free event. Attendees will also find educational speakers, minority-owned businesses, vendors and artisans.
