Pittsburgh women who left their mark in male-dominated fields

by Admin

We’re marking Women’s History Month by recognizing three special Pittsburgh women.

For this week’s Pittsburgh 100, we created a video to introduce you to some Pittsburgh women you should know.

Each of these women faced incredible odds because of their gender and broke down barriers to pave a path for women to make an impact in their field. Nellie Bly pushed journalism to completely new heights. Mary Lou Williams was a pioneer for women in jazz. Judith Resnik was the first Jewish-American woman in space.

From all the women who have been doubted before: Thank you, Nellie, Mary Lou and Judith. Who are your favorite Pittsburgh women? Tweet us @Pittsburgh100_.
