New energy, water reporting for Pittsburgh building owners

by
tracking of energy usage

Beginning June 1, 2018, building owners in Pittsburgh will be required to report energy and water usage for all non-residential buildings larger than 50,000 square feet. The Department of Innovation and Finance will collect this information and share it on an online platform available to the public.

The goal of the ordinance is to increase energy and water usage awareness, according to a press release issued by the mayor’s office. Information about the ordinance and Pittsburgh’s Building Benchmarking initiative can be found on the city’s website.
