It’s no secret the Pittsburgh region has an aging workforce. That’s why community leaders believe it’s imperative to educate the next generation of leaders in business, health care and education.
The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh is making headway with its Y Achievers program. Adult achievers, nominated by their employers, assist local teens as they identify career paths and strive to meet high academic standards.
These volunteer leaders provide assistance via bimonthly, one-on-one mentoring sessions designed to teach positive values including honesty, respect and responsibility. These traits help youth build confidence as they prepare to join Pittsburgh’s vibrant future workforce.
