Cooking up a council race?

Inside a government office

Pittsburgh councilman Dan Gilman has replaced Kevin Acklin as chief of staff to Mayor Bill Peduto.

And the District 8 special election to replace Gilman may break some eggs if celebrated Dinette chef and owner Sonja Finn succeeds him. Gilman’s chief of staff, Erika Strassburger, is also seeking his seat.

Pittsburgh has had many unusual leaders over the years. The first mayor (or burgess), George Robinson, was arrested on orders from President George Washington for rebel activity during the Whiskey Rebellion. Sadly, our research didn’t reveal a list of chefs who dished up city politics. Finn could be the first.
