Expanding Health Care Choices

by

Major changes are coming in the regional health insurance landscape. Pennsylvania has created a program designed to expand support services for Medicare and Medicaid recipients. The Community HealthChoices (CHC) initiative will allow disabled, elderly and low-income residents to access the care they need to live healthy lifestyles.

CHC will require eligible residents to choose from three managed care plans by November 15. Those eligible for the new state program include:

• Residents 21 or older receiving both Medicare and Medicaid

• Those who receive Medicaid-sponsored long-term support services (LTSS)

Coverage for all enrollees will begin on January 1, 2018.
