Celebrating life and living liver donations

living liver donations

Research shows living liver donor transplants have improved three-year survival rates for recipients over deceased liver transplants, as well as lower hospital costs. Yet, too few people donate.

In a recent success story, Mary Lou Hunt, wife of local music legend Johnny Angel, received a live liver transplant from Sarah Booz in April after her husband’s Facebook post went viral.

Naturally, Johnny Angel and The Halos now will headline The Ultimate Liver Function Aug. 24 at McKees Rocks’ renovated Roxian Theatre. Eddie Holman, a friend of the Hunt family and singer of “Hey there Lonely Girl” is coming in from Philadelphia for the concert. Also, the Jaggerz, who sang the 1970’s hit, “The Rapper,” have been added to the show.

The daylong music festival is meant to give back to Sarah’s family and support the Community Liver Alliance.
