After New Year’s, the first federal holiday of 2018 honors civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. If you don’t have January 15 off from work, Pittsburgh has a weekend of celebrations to enjoy.
One highlight: the 11th annual Let Freedom Sing, featuring the Heritage Gospel Chorale of Pittsburgh, area choirs and emcee Lynne Hayes-Freeland of KDKA-TV. Two performances will celebrate the legacy of Dr. King: Saturday, January 13, 7 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church and Monday, January 15, 7 p.m. at the Byham.
The concerts benefit Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Tickets start at $1.
