REcollection Studio Preserves Family History

by
Jay Haarburger using the REcollection Studio

Jay Haarburger was rummaging through his grandmother’s basement years ago when he chanced upon several old photographs and documents belonging to his grandfather, a veteran who served in WWII as a medic and interrogator. These artifacts piqued his curiosity and he felt the need to preserve them.

After an Internet search, he discovered the REcollection Studio at the Carnegie Library. A free community resource, the studio allows community members to digitize documents and tapes. Now, Haarburger regularly shares these digital copies with a historian in Germany – where his parents escaped from during the war – as he traces his family heritage.
