Ultimately, these brews are marketing moves that increase brand awareness, and like McDonald’s Shamrock Shake, the beers’ limited runs create urgency to purchase. Surely, too, there are those who will have a taste for the drinks.
They also make one wonder what other libations Pittsburgh brands could concoct. What about “Primanti’s Pilsner”? On second thought, adding hops to ham, cheese, fries and coleslaw might be an ingredient too far.
