Downtown Pittsburgh’s Holiday Market goes global

Within its Alpine-style vendor booths, there’s more of a global feel at this year’s Peoples Gas Holiday Market in Downtown’s Market Square.

The popular seasonal marketplace of handcrafted gifts and live entertainment is in its seventh year. Its expanded offerings include Asian, African, Haitian and Latin America goods, along with European- and Pittsburgh-inspired holiday items.

The only thing to match the international flavor is community spirit. After raising more than $225,000 for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank in its first six years, Santa’s House is open again, offering photos with the big guy for every donation.
