hiring the right candidate

At 3.6 percent, the U.S. unemployment rate is the lowest it’s been in a decade. For comparison, it was 9.9 percent in 2010. Jobs. There are lots out there.

While competition is high because candidates have options, finding the right candidate is critical for business success. During your hiring process, ask yourself:

• Can they do the work? A skills test can help.

• Are they a good fit for the role? Someone can be a skilled employee and in the wrong position. Use a behavioral survey for starters.

• Does the candidate fit your culture? Remember your core values.
