What to know when opening a business in an airport

by
airport business

In an era when brick-and-mortar storefronts are closing at an alarming rate, the airport is quickly becoming the new mall. But if you’re interested in opening shop, there are some things you should know.

• When negotiating a lease, think about your exit strategy. What happens if sales do not reach the level you need in order to operate profitably?

• Know airport security procedures. Some products that might be used as weapons can’t be sold in the airport.

• Airports get federal funding for nondiscriminatory hiring practices. A business structured a certain way may get your foot in the door.
