When I moved to Pittsburgh in 1994, steel mills were still closing (there was no Waterfront, for example, or Southside Works) and Steelers fans were headed south for work. The most common question I got: “Why would you move here?”

No one’s asking that these days. Every week brings evidence that Pittsburgh’s rising, from U-Haul surveys of people moving here to the growing population of educated young people, to exciting residential and commercial projects.

Can Amazon HQ2 be far behind? We’ll soon find out if we’re a finalist. At least one Forbes author is betting on Pittsburgh. Are you?
